The Resilience Medicine Approach

How Resilience Medicine Clinic Began

Our Founder, Dr Dani Gordon created Resilience Medicine system based on more than a decade of experience treating thousands of patients with integrative medicine and medical cannabis.

Early in her medical practice in Canada she specialised in long term chronic conditions and found most patients improved significantly more when integrative programs including diet, nutraceuticals and mindbody approaches were added to drug therapy.

After adding medical cannabis (MC) to her practice, she regularly found even her most treatment resistant patients experienced dramatic relief from symptoms. This symptom relief gave them the added capacity to engage with their integrative programs, resulting in significantly improved quality of life.

At our clinic, we listen to our patients, try to explore the dots for their condition and offer personalised treatment. We don’t just prescribe medications, our goal is to help you increase your resilience and live a happier more fulfilled life.

How It Works

Most patients will work with us for a minimum of 6 months time, with many patients seeing us long term to continue with their medication management and integrative care plan to manage chronic conditions. Initially, monthly consultations is recommended for most cases and then spacing these out to every every 3 months, every 6 months thereafter depending on the patient, the treatment plan and the type of medications prescribed. We specialise in the long term management of complex chronic symptoms and conditions as your trusted long-term integrative physician team. We are not a replacement for your NHS GP and do not offer acute or emergency care

Dr Dani’s Philosophy

” We are all unique, so our medicine should be too. I firmly believe that every one of us has the potential to become more resilient no matter how big the challenges or what stage of your health journey you are at.

I believe in the innate healing potential in each of us especially when we can remove obstacles to healing and connect all the dots-even when a ‘cure’ may not be possible.

I use a root cause approach to medicine. I don’t just look at each symptom in isolation or use a ‘drugs only’ approach where more medications are added for each new symptom. That approach doesn’t create the most potential for healing. A ‘one-sized fits all’ approach is also bound to fail especially if you suffer from a complex chronic condition or symptoms.

My approach to seeing you as a patient is not just about assessing a specific symptom, diagnosis or disease, it’s about looking at you as a whole and unique person and choosing treatment modalities which are expertly integrated. Not for the sake of making things complicated but to make your treatment plan work better and support your long term healing.

I am active in mentoring physician colleagues and teaching and I try to live by example too. This includes following nutritional medicine approaches and having a mindbody practice as well as doing my own ‘inner work.’

At the end of the day, we all want to be happy, feel fulfilled and connected to the people and things we care about most. I will work with you to help remove the health barriers to achieving this best self version of you.

Holistic treatment is the core of what I do, but I won’t recommend a ‘natural’ treatment or approach just because it’s natural–it has to actually work and have value. Otherwise holistic treatment can become just as unempowering and frustrating as ‘drug only’ approaches. It’s all about doing what works-for you.”

Cannabis Medicines Dramatically improve Quality Of Life

Many MC patients see positive changes within days, but often 3-6 months of adjustments such as strain, ratio, form, dose & timing can be needed to maximise treatment effect, especially for complex or sensitive patients.

Without this adjustment process, many patients can stop treatment prematurely believing MC was just ‘another treatment that didn’t work for me’ when a huge improvement in their quality of life was possible

Most chronic health patients have multiple symptom clusters that interrelate and respond effectively to MC but do not fit just one diagnosis or medical speciality. Standard narrowly focused assessment tools do not accurately capture these more global changes in symptoms.

Dr Gordon developed Resilience Medicine to address these problems.

We are Part of T21

Resilience Medicine Clinics, as part of our commitment to real world evidence research is participating in Project Twenty21, the largest observational medical cannabis research project in Europe. The value of real world evidence (RWE) to assess the effectiveness of medical cannabis is increasingly being recognised by the mainstream medical and research community, since cannabis medicines contain multiple active ingredients in one medicine and treat multiple symptoms at one time, making traditional RCT (randomised placebo controlled trials) more difficult. T21 aims to add to this valuable RWE base so that the lack of perceived evidence, a major barrier to having medical cannabis available on the NHS, may be addressed. You do not have to participate in T21 to be seen as a medical cannabis patient, it is completely up to you. If you do wish to become a T21 medical cannabis patient please let us know at the time of booking your first visit with us.
